Before the LASIK procedure there are certain diagnostic tests to be performed.

In the LASIK department, we have the following facilities for diagnostics:

Corneal topography by TOMEY - to evaluate anterior surface of cornea.
Pachymeter by TOMEY- to evaluate thickness of cornea.
Specular Microscope by CONAN- to evaluate endothelial cell density.

The LASIK procedure is performed in a state-of-the-art LASIK theatre that has a 24 hour dehumidifier and AC for the precision of advanced equipments like:

Barraquer's Tonometer- for IOP conformation.

CHIRON TECHNOLAS 217C excimer laser by BAUSCH & LOMB - this generates the laser beam used in LASIK procedure.	Hansatome by BAUSCH & LOMB- prepares partial thickness corneal flap during lasik.

The cornea is a part of the eye that helps focus light to create an image on the retina. It works in much the same way that the lens of a camera focuses light to create an image on film. The bending and focusing of light is known as refraction. When the light rays come to a perfect focus on the retina, the individual does not need glasses.

However, sometimes the rays of light do not come to a focus on the retina. These imperfections in the focusing power of the eye are called refractive errors.

Glasses or contact lenses are designed to compensate for the eye's imperfections. Surgical procedures aimed at improving the focusing power of the eye are called Refractive procedures.

In LASIK procedure, precise and controlled removal of corneal tissue by a special laser reshapes the cornea, thus changing its focusing power.
