Welcome to the Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases (PID) Fellowship Program

We are happy to introduce our program to you and feel we provide an opportunity for a broad-based, comprehensive clinical, educational and research experience. During the training, we feel we are able to prepare the fellow for an academic career. Research based, educational and clinical skills acquired during training will distinguish the fellow as highly competitive for an academic position in infectious diseases with outstanding clinical skills and the potential to excel as a educator and researcher.

The fellowship is a three-year program which provides the unique opportunity for dual training in pediatric infectious diseases.  Clinical exposure is extensive and comprehensive surrounding an active inpatient consultation service and busy outpatient continuity clinic experience.  Research opportunities include clinical and basic pharmacology investigations and hospital epidemiology.  The overall goal of the program is to train pediatricians for an academic career in pediatric infectious diseases.  At the completion of training, fellows will be eligible for board certification in pediatric infectious diseases and if desired have the opportunity to attain training in  pediatric clinical pharmacology or a master’s degree in public health or education.
