Overview

X-Stop Procedure

The X-stop procedure is the first non-fusion treatment for patients with lumbar spinal stenosis.

The procedure can be done in a about a half hour does not require the removal of any bone or soft tissue and in some cases the patient can even go home the same day. This truly is a minimally invasive procedure with most patients having a full recovery in less than one week.

The tiny titanium device is shaped like a bird with two sets of wings and is designed to fit between spinal processes, the small bony protrusions that jut out from the spinal column toward the back so that you stand upright the nerves in your back will not be pinched or cause pain. Using local anesthesia and with the help of x-ray guidance the X-stop implant is inserted through a small incision in the back will not be pinched or cause pain. The wings secure the implant between the spinal processes so that remains in place without attaching to the bone or ligaments in the back.   Read More...

Diam Spinal Stabilization System

The DIAM system implant is a product that can be used to treat low back pain and radiating leg pain. The term dynamic stabilization refers to technology that preserves, maintains or restores a natural range of motion and stability.

The core of the DIAM system is made of silicone. The outer mesh & tether are made of polyethylene terephthalate (polyster). The crimp is titanium. DIAM is done to treat degenerative disc disease.   Read More...

Stem Cell Therapy

Stem cells are the master cells of the human body. They can divide to produce copies of themselves and many other types of cell. They are found in various parts of the human body at every stage of development from embryo to adult. Stem cells taken from embryos that are just a few days old can turn into any of the 300 different types of cell that make up the adult body. Stem cells are so versatile, they could potentially be used to repair and replace damaged human tissue. The purpose of experimental stem cell therapy is to offer potential benefits of stem cells, which may be: To slow down or stop further deterioration caused by the disease and / or to see if stem cells can reverse the effects of the disease. Stem cell therapy is currently used for Spinal Cord Injury. Read More..

Laser Treatment

Laser therapy is the use of monochromatic light emission from a low intensity laser diode (250 milliwatts or less) or an array of high intensity super luminous diodes(providing total optical power in the 1000-2000 milliwatt range).Conditions treated include musculoskeletal injuries, chronic and degenerative conditions and wounds.

The light source is placed in contact with the skin allowing the photon energy to penetrate tissue, where it interacts with various intracellular biomolecules resulting in the restoration of normal cell morphology and function. This also enhances the body’s natural healing processes. The following chart outlines some of the specific effects of Low Intensity Laser Therapy.Conditions which can be treated with laser include Spinal Stenosis, Degenerative Disc Disease, Herniated Disc and Sciatica. Ozone Therapy

O3 (OZONE) is a pure form of oxygen formed from three atoms of oxygen slit in presence of ultraviolet rays or carbon arc. O3 has extraordinary potential to oxygenate tissues. It acts as a strong antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal. More importantly two effects of ozone are its strong analgesic and anti inflammatory properties. Ozone is known to extract water molecules from the tissue.

Ozone is delivered under strict asptic precautions with the help of a CT scanner machine that helps to localize a safe access route for this purpose. A Special equipment that delivers calibrated doses of O3-O2 mixture of upto 30 micrograms is used for Ozone delivery.

No general anaesthesia is required and the patient comes back to recovery room fully conscious and without pain where he / she is observed for two hours before discharge. From the very next day the patient can walk and go to the toilet, sit comfortably in a chair or relax in bed for the next 7 days. At the end of seven days another CT scanis conducted and then if all is well a physiotherapy session is started for the back muscles which can be done at home by the patient. Read More..
