Overview

Most of the women nowadays are in some way unsatisfied with their breasts, if small then they would like bigger, if big then smaller are needed. The source of the problem with the breasts may also be the form, since it does matter if your breasts look like an apple or a peach, or if after breast-feeding breasts are saggy and need correction, then in these cases a large number of women turn to plastic surgery. Also the source of the problem may be figure and other causes for unexpected breast augmentation, which may cause serious stomach pains and poise abnormalities. Any kind of mutation of breasts may cause not just esthetical but also psychological discontent.

If we are speaking about breast plastic surgery, then in most cases breast lift comes into one’s mind, however here also belongs breast reduction and augmentation, breast asymmetry and areola correction. But what is the cause of the change of breast forms? In most cases it is birth, breast feeding or a significant weight loss.

What Is Breast Lift Surgery?

Breast lift surgery or Mastopexy is a surgical procedure commonly performed in women to reshape sagging or drooping breasts to give them a firm and youthful contour.

During the procedure for Breast Lift, the areola or the dark skin around the breasts is also reduced in size, and the nipple and areola are repositioned in relation to the new contour of the breast.

Gynecomastia Male Breast Reduction Surgery

Gynecomastia is enlargement of breast tissue in men. There may be enlargement of one or both breasts. It occurs in as many as 40 - 60% of men. The cause is not always known, but the incidence increases with certain drugs (digitalis, anabolic steroids, Tagamet, and spironolactone), use of marijuana or alcohol, and obesity. This condition can cause extreme embarrassment, social inhibition and self-consciousness for boys and men who suffer from it.

This procedure is used to remove fat and/or glandular tissue from the breasts. In extreme cases, skin is removed as well. The result is a flatter, firmer and more masculine-looking chest.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction can be defined as the surgical reduction of breast volume to achieve a smaller aesthetically shaped breast mound with concomitant relief of the potential symptoms of a large breast. There is some evidence to suggest that breast reduction may reduce the individual risk of breast cancer.

Younger patients normally come with psychological issues and personal embarrassment and are the key elements in their decision to seek surgery. Large breasts are difficult to assess for swellings and lumps, thus making cancer detection difficult.

Breast Correction(mastopexy)

A breast lift (mastopexy) is indicated when the breasts have lost their youthful volume, the skin has become stretched and saggy, and the nipples have drooped. This is quite frequently the case after pregnancies or significant weight loss.

During mastopexy, excessive skin is removed, the breast gland is lifted and the breast is newly shaped in order to harmonize the appearance of the whole body.

In breast lift, the surgeon cuts out a section of skin from the lower part of the breast. This skin is removed, and the nipple is moved upward. Skin that was previously above the nipple is drawn down and sewn together below the nipple. Because there is less skin, the breast is higher and firmer after surgery. The scars are usually around the areola, in a vertical line extending down from the nipple area, and along the lower fold of the breast.

Breast Reconstruction

Women who consider breast reconstruction surgery tend to be either breast cancer survivors who have had single or double mastectomies or women who have had their breast tissue removed as a way of reducing the risk of breast cancer due to a significant family history of the disease.

Breast reconstruction is a surgical procedure, performed by a plastic surgeon that restores the appearance of a breast by rebuilding the breast contour. Women can also opt to reconstruct the nipple and darker area around the nipple called the aureole. Reconstruction will not restore the normal feel and sensation of your breast.

Breast reconstruction can be done at the same time as your mastectomy. The main benefit of immediate reconstruction is one less surgical procedure to endure. Delayed reconstruction may be appropriate if radiation is prescribed following the mastectomy. Radiation can increase complications after surgery.
