N owadays, it is a quite a common problem with the males that the sperms produced by them naturally are either less in count or they are not of good quality so that the fertilization could occur. To overcome this, the sperm donor has evolved. The sperm donors are the individual who donate their healthy sperms so that they can come together with the females egg to initiate the fertilization process.
W ith the advancement in the field of medical sciences, the sperm donation can take place. Basically, this is the procedure which involves a man to donate his reproductive cell (sperm) that can be injected into the female body to help her conceive.
The injected semen is referred to as third party reproduction as this is the reproductive cell from some other individual apart from the couple themselves.

An individual becomes the sperm donor if he wants to help an individual or the expecting parents to conceive. This may even be done in order to ensure the woman to become the mother in case if she doesn’t have the male partner or the male partner of the couple experiences male infertility or does not produce healthy sperm

Criteria for sperm donation

  • Age less than 40
  • Have at least the average weight
  • Have post graduation degrees

Prior to this procedure of sperm donation, the respective intended sperm donor will be asked to do some ejaculation by either way that may be through sex or masturbation from 2 to 5 days.

    Once the sperm donation is made, the sperm is cryopreserved and kept in the quarantine environment for minimum 180 days. These are followed by a test for the HIV and other infectious diseases so that they could be prevented in advance.

Sperm quality tends to be evaluated again if, the sperm donated fails in the test. Few sample sperm are more inclined to be damaged while they are in the freezing process.
If the sperm passes all the examination and meet the standards, then it is selected as a donor and is injected into the female body to conceive.
