Step 1: Stimulation for the egg production
Various medications of fertility are prescribed by the experts of the IVF treatment on the commencement of the procedure in order to stimulate the egg production. Stimulation of eggs is done so that multiple eggs are there and it is required because it is obvious that all the eggs do not get developed for the fertilization after the retrieval. A blood test for the checking of the hormonal level is performed as well as transvaginal ultrasound is also done so as to examine the ovaries.
Step 2: Retrieval of eggs
Minor surgical procedures are performed for the retrieval of the eggs from the ovaries. These procedures incorporate the usage of ultrasound imaging to act as a guide for the hollow needle to be passed through the pelvic cavity for the removal to be done. So as to reduce the discomfort, the medication is provided by the experts to the patients.
Step 3: Insemination and Fertilization
Male orgasm called as sperms are placed together with eggs referred to as good quality eggs and stored in the environment. The combination of the sperms and the eggs is called as the insemination. After this insemination, the sperms enters into the eggs after a short span of time. In cases where the chances of fertilization is low, the sperms are directly injected into the eggs by the lab technicians, which is referred to as the procedure of ICSI(Intracytoplamsic Sperm Injection).
Step 4: Embryo Culture
Fertilized eggs divides further and this division leads to the formation of the embryo. THE embryo produced is checked by the technicians so as to ensure that their growth is going on in an appropriate manner. In a span of 5 days, the embryo divides aggressively into several cells. Couples with high risk of genetic disorders, think of undergoing pre implantation genetic disorders. This embryo culture is performed at minimal of 3-4 days time after the fertilization had took place.
Step 5: Transfer of embryo
After the 3-5 days of process of the retrieval of the eggs and the fertilization, these eggs are transferred into the females womb. This transfer takes when the female is awake. A thin tube filled with embryos is inserted into the vagina of the female through the cervix entering into the womb further by the experts.
