Maternity & Pediatrics
Nothing is as special as the bond between parent and child. Shore Memorial has a family-centered approach when it comes to childbirth and the hospitalization of a child.
The Maternity Care Center provides patients with a special combination of compassion, expertise and advanced technology. Special attention is paid to helping pregnant mothers and new families develop and maintain those early bonds. Shore Memorial's family-centered approach to care is also evident in the inpatient Pediatric and Adolescent Care Center. Every resource is focused on the child's well-being, comfort and rapid healing.
Shore Memorial is proud to be the only hospital in South Jersey to be a member of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Inpatient Network. This relationship means that CHOP pediatric hospitalists are available on site, 24 hours a day, every day to care for newborns and pediatric patients. In addition, CHOP neonatologists are available 24 hours a day for newborns who require specialized care.
Special Care Nursery
Our Special Care Nursery team, supported by the CHOP Newborn & Pediatric Care Program, uses high-tech monitoring devices for sick or special-care newborns allowing these babies to remain with the family rather than requiring transfer to another hospital.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine Program
During pregnancy, a woman’s medical needs are usually handled by an obstetrician, a physician who specializes in pregnancy, labor and delivery. However, sometimes a woman needs additional expertise and she is referred to a maternal-fetal medicine specialist -- an obstetrician who is trained in fetal medicine and high-risk pregnancies. Under the direction of Dr. Robert Debbs, a renowned specialist with the University of Pennsylvania Health System and Shore Memorial Hospital, our Maternity Care Center’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine Program provides these expectant mothers with the specialized care they need.
The Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati offers extensive testing and management of high-risk pregnancies. Maternal-fetal specialists or perinatologists -- physicians with 2-3 years more training than regular OB / GYNs and who specialize in the care of women with pregnancy complications -- provide expert care to you and support to your OB / GYN.
Some fetal abnormalities require fetal surgery for your child. Fetal surgery may be performed in utero (while your baby is in your womb). Surgery may also be performed during delivery (Ex Utero Intrapartum Treatment procedure) and / or after you have had your baby.
