Overview
The surgical correction of the not descended testis of intra-abdominal localization is a true challenge, in general the results are not satisfactory in about 30 and 60% of cases. The endoscopic surgery is an excellent alternative.
Objective: To report the initial experience of the authors with laparoscopic orquidopexia in a single surgical procedure. (LO-1) in patients with not descended testicles of intra-abdominal localization.
Design of the study: Prospective and longitudinal trial of pediatric patient with intra-abdominal testicles, who were operated, of LO-1 between December of 1994 and December of 1988.
Result: There were practiced 42 LO-1 in 35 patients, 13 left, nine rights and 20 bilateral. The age mean was three years and 12 kg of weight. The surgical time average was 60 minutes, the hospital stay was never bigger than two days.
The follow up was between five and 36 months. Forty glands without atrophy, of those 38 ware found in appropriate position and two between the superior portion of the scrotum and the last 2 testis remained atrophic.
